Frequently Asked

I want to work with MB or collaborate. Where do I start?
It depends on what you need, and MB keeps these lanes separate on purpose. To have MB cover your event, that's The Equity Read — learn how it works on the Equity Read page, and sponsoring organizations underwrite it through the Partners page. To hire consulting (clinical AI, operations, strategy, comms), that's MB Advisory at linktr.ee/melaninai — a separate practice, walled from editorial. For an editorial collaboration or anything that doesn't fit a box, email amber@mbmedia.co.
How do I reach Amber or MB directly?
Email is best: amber@mbmedia.co. You can call 914.497.1480, or book a call at linktr.ee/melaninai.
I (or my organization) want to be featured or covered. How do I pitch?
Email amber@mbmedia.co with the subject line Pitch. Tell us who or what, why it matters for Black and Brown communities, and the health-equity angle. One thing to know up front: coverage is editorial and earned — never paid. Being featured is separate from sponsoring or funding the work, and the wall between them never moves.
I have a story idea, a tip, or something for a specific segment.
Send it. For general pitches, email amber@mbmedia.co. Name the segment if you have one in mind — MB Rate My Bill (submit a hospital bill for line-by-line review), Diagnose Bias, The Hospital on Your Block, and others. For sensitive material or documents, use the secure channels below to protect yourself.
My organization disagrees with something MB published. How do I request a correction or right of reply?
MB takes accuracy as seriously as independence. Email amber@mbmedia.co with the subject Correction — include the piece, the specific claim in question, and any documentation. We review every good-faith request, correct the record when the facts warrant it, and offer right of reply where appropriate. Independence doesn't mean we're not accountable; it means accountability runs to the facts and to our readers.
I want MB to cover my conference or event.
That's The Equity Read — independent, on-the-ground coverage that leaves the room better than it found it. See the Equity Read page for how it works; sponsoring organizations underwrite it through MB's Conference & Event Partnership on the Partners page. MB keeps editorial control, every time.
Can I republish, quote, or reprint MB's work?
MB's reporting and the Health Equity Journalism™ framework are original work. Short quotes with clear attribution and a link back are welcome. For reprints, licensing, syndication, or republication of full pieces, email amber@mbmedia.co first. Please don't reproduce MB's work or category language as your own.
Press or media inquiry?
Email amber@mbmedia.co with the subject Press. A full press kit — boilerplate, founder bio, brand assets, and fast facts — is available on request.
How do I read MB or subscribe?
The Melanin Memo publishes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Subscribe on Substack (@themelaninmemo), and read the latest investigations under Content.
